What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, often referred to as talking therapy, is a collaborative process that provides a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and relationships. Therapy can help you gain greater self-awareness, work through difficulties, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful change in your life.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support for anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma, self-esteem issues, life transitions, or simply a desire for personal growth and deeper self-understanding.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what has brought you to therapy, any challenges you're currently facing, your personal goals, and what you hope to gain from the process.

There is no pressure to share everything immediately. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Is everything we discuss confidential?

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. What you share within sessions remains private and confidential, except in rare situations where there is a legal or ethical duty to disclose information to protect you or someone else from serious harm.

These limits to confidentiality will be explained clearly before therapy begins.

How often will I need to attend?

Most clients attend therapy on a weekly basis, particularly at the beginning of their therapeutic journey. However, session frequency can be discussed and tailored to your needs, circumstances, and goals.

What if I've never had therapy before?

Many clients come to therapy for the first time feeling unsure about what to expect. This is completely normal. You do not need to have the "right words" or know exactly what you want to discuss. Therapy is a supportive space where we can explore things together at your pace.
